Song Without Words

Centering Prayer may be without words. It is like playing the piano. As our fingers cover the keys, we play the melody of our hearts, sometimes loud, sometimes soft, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Our heart speaks through our fingers on the keys.

Then Jesus places his hands on the keyboard and begins playing a melody that harmonizes with ours. Four hands playing together. Exciting and wonderful. But slowly Jesus’ hands, see the scars, move to cover ours, we are united as one. One Spirit. The exquisite unity. We, as humans, created and sustained, by the Trinitarian God, who designed us to create, to think, to do, to feel, and enjoys us as part of Creation. Jesus the Incarnated (human) Son of God. Together. At our best.

That is Prayer Without Words.
